Social scientists have proven the “commitment principle”, which states that when people make a commitment, they are more likely to follow through and engage in desired behavior. Here’s how you can use it to grow your PTA or PTO.
Marketers and salespeople have been using the commitment principle for eons to get you to buy products and services. Once you’ve made a commitment, you’re obligated to stick with the purchase.
When the act of committing is made public, there is an extra benefit. You’re telegraphing to the world that the behavior you just engaged in is “the thing to do”, which encourages others to follow suit.
This public commitment is the principle behind the popular “I voted today” stickers. You get those as you exit your election booth, and for the rest of the day it serves as a reminder for those who haven’t yet voted to go ahead and vote.
We prepared “I joined PTA” stickers in 3 different color schemes for you to download and print. If you run a different type of parent organization, such as a PTSA, PTO or HSA, we have stickers for you as well.

For your convenience, we have also prepared PDF files that are formatted to be printed on these 2 1/2 inch round sticker sheets from Amazon. The sticker sheets are just $6.99 for a set of 300, so that’s about $0.02 per sticker.
To download the PDF files, just choose the type of organization that you run: PTA, PTSA, PTO or HSA. Happy printing – and happy growing!
